Where to eat

Must visit for those who want an unforgettable experience:

  • Casa Coppelle at Piazza delle Coppelle, 49. It has a very pleasant interior, designed by Jacques Garcia, one of the best French decorators, and delicious haute cuisine.
    Average bill: 40 Euros
  • The bar opened a year ago on the terrace of La Rinascente on via del Tritone with a panoramic view of the city.
    Average bill: 30 Euros
  • The best place for an aperitif is the garden at the five-star Hotel de Russie. Drinks are served in a large courtyard with green walls.
    Average bill: 40 Euros

Breakfast in Rome implies pastries and coffee, so finding places that offer a hearty breakfast is no easy task. But there’s Coromandel (Via di Monte Giordano, 60), which offers great pancakes and omelets, and the French place Le Carrè français at Via Vittoria Colonna, 30), which serves sandwiches and omelets, croissants, baguettes and more, and they also have a great patisserie and a small French goods store.
Average bill for breakfast: 10-12 euros.

For lunch and dinner (which, by the way, are at 1 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) I suggest a few places – great pasta is served at La Carbonara (Piazza Campo de’ Fiori, 23), pizza at Montecarlo (Vicolo Savelli, 13), where office clerks go, so everything is simple, delicious and homemade. Take-out pizza is available at Grano (Via degli Equi, 39) and Frutta e Farina (via della Croce, 49 A). Since Rome is not a port city and fish restaurants are scarce, try the fish and seafood places in Assunta Madre (Via Giulia, 14) or the Fish Market (Vicolo della Luce, 2). For sushi lovers, head to Temakhino (where the Romans themselves go). For burgers, go to T-bone Station (ask for the Black Angus burger – the highest quality meat).
Average bill for lunch and dinner: 20-40 euros.

For an aperitif (around 18:00-19:00) with slices and a glass of wine go to Meccanismo, Tagliere toscano, La Prosciutteria, or just sit with a glass of aperol and chips in the courtyard of Locarno Hotel or in Bukowski’s bar, which recreates the atmosphere of home: there are books on the shelves to borrow and read while you wait for your drinks, photos on the walls, and a rug on the floor.
Average bill for an aperitif: 15-25 euros.

Barnum Cafe is a great place to sit and work, cozying up with a laptop and a cup of cappuccino (great for remote workers, because it has Wi-Fi).
Average bill: 11-20 euros.

For lovers of delicious ice cream I suggest the classic Giolitti (you have to be patient as there is always a long queue), and for unusual flavors you can go to Gelateria del Teatro on Coronari Street – be sure to try the taste of salvia e lamponi (sage and raspberry), it’s refreshing and interesting.
Average price in tourist spots: from 2 euros for a scoop of ice cream
